2015 illy アートコレクション MENDED CUPS
デザイナー Ono Yoko
「MENDED CUPS」は、割られ、金継ぎの修復ラインがあるilly Art Collectionのシリーズです。カップにはそれぞれ異なったソーサーが付き、オノ・ヨーコ氏が実際に体験した(もしくは直接には体験していない)何百人という死者が出た悲劇的な6つの事件が手書きで描かれています。それぞれのソーサーにはその悲劇的な事件の起きた場所と年月日が描かれ、”mended in 2015”(2015年に修復)と、締めくくられています。
コレクション7つ目のカップは「UNBROKEN CUP」で、ひび割れも修復ラインも無い平和と希望を表したカップです。ソーサーには、”This cup will never be broken as it will be under your protection”(このカップはあなたの保護下にあるので決して壊れることは無いでしょう)というオノヨーコ氏の平和へのメッセージが書かれています。

This cup will never be broken as it will be under your protection
ONE
One is an immobile number. One is found in our bodies often as fixed
parts. We count ourselves as one but it might be better to count as
half a pair or a half when you think of the fact that our reproductive
organs can only function by meeting the other half.
One step is only half a move. Since we have two legs we have to take
two steps or jump in order to move from one position to the next.
One is before the cell splits in two. It is only mobile in the process of
becoming two. One as a force is a point – which does not extend like
a line. One constantly seeks for states of zero and two.
